Changchun University of Technology (CCUT)

Changchun University of Technology (CCUT) is a provincial key university with engineering as its primary discipline, supported by coordinated development in management, humanities, science, economics, law, and arts. The university was founded in 1952 as Changchun Automobile Industry School, established by the state to support the construction of China’s First Automobile Works. Over the decades, it has undergone several stages of development, including Changchun Polytechnic, Jilin Institute of Technology, and Jilin University of Technology. In June 1970, Jilin Institute of Technology was merged into Jilin University of Technology, and in October 1978, it was reestablished. In September 2000, Changchun Coal Industry School, Changchun Coal Management Cadre Institute, and Jilin Industrial Design School were incorporated. In March 2002, it was officially renamed Changchun University of Technology.

In 1992, CCUT was designated by the Jilin Provincial Government as one of the first three key provincial universities and was reaffirmed in 2004. The university was authorized to confer master’s degrees in 1990 and doctoral degrees in 2013. In 2016, it was selected for the “Capacity-Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China.” In March 2020, CCUT was approved as one of the institutions under the Jilin Province Initiative for Developing High-Level Applied Research Universities with Distinctive Features.
